Based on conversations with our Wycliffe internship coordinators, Del and Jean Archer, as well as our contact with the Choctaw Bible Translation Committee, Elijah Ben, we have developed the following description of this summer's internship.
In this position, an intern will support the Choctaw Bible
Translation Committee (CBTC) and engage in the local community.
Opportunities
to support the CBTC will most likely include:
- Working with the CBTC to
brainstorm, design, and produce materials (such as Bible study/devotional
booklets, audio/video recordings, etc.) for the encouragement of Choctaw
believers and/or for sale at the Choctaw Fair.
- Assisting with Choctaw Fair
planning and working at the Fair.
- Contributing in various other areas,
as needs arise.
Opportunities to engage in the local community will involve:
- Interacting with individuals to build relationships and gain an
understanding of Choctaw culture.
- Committing to a local church body and
attending their events (hymn singings, wakes, visiting elderly individuals,
etc.).
- Engaging in cultural activities like attending stickball games
or learning to do beading, cook local foods, etc.
Please pray with us that God would use us in a variety of way to glorify Him and encourage His people. Thanks!
